Do you like the outdoors, keeping fit, meeting new people, experiencing new cultural excitement? Then this is for you.

The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association welcomes friendly and dedicated people who want to contribute to this exciting sporting event and multicultural Festival in Edmonton. Many dedicated volunteers return each year to contribute in the diverse opportunities over the festival weekend. Without the valuable time and efforts of primarily non -paddling volunteers the festival would not be considered one of Edmonton’s best summer festivals. It is a great opportunity to meet new long lasting friends and learn about this modern day version of a traditional sport. The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival relies extensively on volunteer support crucial to the success of the festival.

There are tasks available to suit everyone’s interests. There are opportunities for everyone and you need not be a Dragon Boat paddler to contribute. If you view the Calendar of Events it will provide some idea of the many events that require volunteers for specific tasks and committees during the on water season and dry land season.

What would we do without our spirited dragon volunteers?

Perhaps you only wish to volunteer for a few hours during the festival weekend or several shifts in the same task throughout the entire weekend.

Positions are available in the Beer garden, site set up and take down, administration and accounting, promotional relations, organizing trophies and medals, selling merchandise, site vendor assistance, dragon mobile (golf cart) attendant, festival information assistant, race official, timekeepers, dock assistants, team staging area marshal, equipment assistant and more…

Each year the volunteers gather in the comfort of the festival volunteer tent and receive luncheon, snacks, bottled water and a festival shirt along with other surprise tokens of appreciation for their service and commitment. The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association proudly boasts that there are several 10 year term volunteer veterans, paddlers and non-paddlers amongst the volunteer supporters. Please note: A volunteer information and orientation seminar combined with training provided by a festival coordinator will be provided.
